I myself don’t know why but most gamblers prefer standing to hitting. They are afraid of going bust. The gambler would prefer having a worse hand to going bust. If the player goes busts the dealer wins automatically, which is unacceptable for players. I have happened to confront with such a problem at casinos. For example, if the dealer has 7,8,9 or 10 as his first card and the player’s total is 12 to 16 the player will more likely stand as the player is afraid of going bust and as a result of losing automatically. In fact their chances not to go bust are quite high. If the player’s total is 12 to 16 the cards he needs are 2,3,4,5 or an Ace. The percentage of these cards in a deck is nearly 40%(38.46%). I think that it is better to hit because according to statistics in this case the player’s chances to win are quite high.

The second and as I believe the most inexplicable mistake is made when a player decides to split his cards, which are tens. It is not wise because your total is already 20 and you chances to win are quite high. You will hardly lose anyway. If you split two tens your chances of winning decrease at once. The same about fives and fours. Try not to split if you have these combinations. In such a case I would advise you to ask for one more card or to double.

The third Blackjack mistake is that a player can’t give up a game. Often the player has already lost a lot; as a result he wants to regain the lost money back. In this case you’d better give up this game and try next time. It will prevent you from losing even more. Sometimes it is just the opposite. The player has already won a lot, but as a rule it isn’t enough and the gambler goes on playing. Always remember that if you have luck it will not last for a long period of time. It is better to give up the game and to keep what you have already won.
